it seems as though as quickly as the rain came, it went. sigh. i'm partly liking the weather because it reminds me that i like warm weather, but sometimes i hate bipolar weather. for example, this morning it was foggy, but by the time it was after school it was in the 60's. weird, but that's california for ya. some good news though is that i finally (drum roll please) scheduled my driver's actual driving test! i kept saying i would schedule it to myself, but this morning i finally did it! now i need to practice and prepare because i only want to do this once. anyway this weekend i have a LOT of work to do! i have to prepare for a test, do my lab report, start writing my essay that's due the 15th. ahhhhhh......... junior year....... they said it would be the toughest year, and were they right. but i'm being a good student and doing assignments ahead of time, yay me! i hate procrastination! wish me luck in my quest of finishing all of the assignments i set out to do! xoxo-emi

i remember faintly last year that i had complained about all the rain we were getting, but i sooo have a different outlook on rain this year. we have barely had any rain at all here and it was kind of weird, i have to admit. i noticed all the laws were turning yellow/tan/brown, not pretty (i can't imagine being in oregon and washington where it is ALL green), anyway i started to have the mindset that we NEEDED rain, plus i bought a heavier jacket for the rain and i wanted to wear it eventually. anyway i heard the rain on my window early in the morning and it was kind of soothing, i hadn't heard that noise in a while, i felt sort of relieved that we finally were getting the rain we NEEDED. -emi

Surfer Boy

my changing views about autumn/winter

i have noticed that my mood about the autumn/winter weather is changing. i am starting to love it. i am embracing the beautiful sweaters and scarves and other warm & cozy things you get to wear in autumn and winter. it might be a stretch to say that i like cold weather, since i live in california where the coldest it gets here is 30* F, and the only thing that we get here that is close to snow is slush and frost on our lawns. other people from the east coast are probably laughing at my perception of what is cold weather, but whatever it's cold for here. i love wearing long socks and drinking warm drinks and wearing layers. I ADMIT IT! it took me this long to realize my full love for autumn/winter. i must admit all i have been doing this past weekend is look at sweaters and boots. ha! just thought i'd let you know-emi

p.s.-on friday i saw Breaking Dawn although i despise kristen stewart(?) and robert pattinson's acting, but alice is my favorite person in the whole movie, although she is barely in the movies. and i must admit it wasn't as bad as the other movies, but some parts were still weird. like the vamps moving lightening fast so weird! i didn't see the last movie, but i saw the first two. and i admit i read the books in seventh and eighth grade because my friends convinced me to, i had never heard of them before my friends had started talking about them. (don't judge me for watching that movie :/ )

Nursery, Project Runway...

So last weekend i went to a nursery and it was very cool because of the variety of plants they had. There were also a lot of booths there filled with paintings and other artistic stuff. It was nice weather, but later it was kind of warm, so i had nice lemonade there.

My obsession this week was project runway because on lifetime the new season premiere was this week. There was a nonstop marathon of the two recent seasons, which i hadn't seen. A lot of the designers on that show are annoying, full of themselves and criticize each other, but i like seeing all of there designs because some of the designers make really pretty dresses.-Emi

i feel like an idiot

so on wednesday i had my first behind-the-wheel class and it was very nerve-wracking because my instructor gave me a lot of directions and was explaining stuff to me really fast. needless to say i felt like an idiot. i did u-turns and going in reverse and turning, lots and lots of turning. i am so glad the instructor had a brake because at times i wasn't paying attention to what i was doing. he tried to teach me SMOG: signal, mirror, over the shoulder, and go, but i was really confused and i kept forgetting what SMOG stood for.

from the lesson i learned that i need to pay attention more to my surroundings and i need to work on turning. i also was so nervous and scared that my leg was all tense the whole lesson, so after that lesson my right leg was really sore, even today i am still dealing with the consequences due to my nervousness. next lesson we're going to work on: parking and go on the freeway, yikes!

another reason i felt like an idiot was because i waited in a line for 6 hours (6 hours!) for a movie!! yeah, my sisters, my friend, and i thought it would be fun to see the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part II. at times it was kind of fun because we were kind of hyper and we acted really strange, but i don't feel like it was worth it. at all. i had put to see a midnight premiere on my bucket list (yes, i have a bucket list), and i am so glad it's over.

first of all, a lot of Harry Potter fans are REALLY annoying, so waiting in line with them for 6 hours wasn't exactly joyful. second of all, we sat next to really annoying people that kept laughing at everything. and that brings me to my third point that most of the audience screamed when the previews came on, at the the previews themselves, and when the movie started.

i came home an 2:30 and i was so mad at my self for thinking i wanted to participate with all the other idiots that went to the premiere. i also am not really a Harry Potter enthusiast anyway, i have only seen the movies. i hadn't even seen all the movies: i never saw the 5th movie and i only saw the ending of the 6th movie. and truthfully, i thought the movie wasn't that great, it was too rushed, and the first part was too slow. am i complaining too much? overall i just think i was crazy for thinking that i wanted to go.-emi

so i got my haircut two days ago and at first i didn't really like the shape it gave my head, my hair looked poofy. but now i have kind of gotten used to it and i parted it differently so i like the way it looks better. the other pluses of having short hair are that it is SO easy to wash, i used to flip my hair to wash and dry it, but i tried that with short hair and it was sooo weird. this is the shortest i have ever had my hair cut. it's a bob like katie holmes' used to be like. i have been inspired by all the short haircuts and pixies many actresses have had before, so i wanted to show them here.

So this past week my sister and i stayed at my grandma and grandpa's house and it was fun. we went to see Midnight in Paris and it was REALLY good, i loved all the 1920's dresses. i especially liked that they showed famous people of that era.

the movie was better then i thought it was going to be, it also made me want to go to Paris because it made Paris look so beautiful. if you haven't seen it, you should! i was so surprised by Owen Wilson's character because he usually plays idiots, but in this film he plays an intelligent writer. -emi

so today i took my driver's permit test and i passed it :) oh, happy days!

then my sister and i were trying to exercise. bleck.

so i bought this Jillian Michael's workout video so we could be more fit and all, and we did it monday and we've been sore ever since. i did it tuesday also, but my sister didn't. we skipped wednesday and we tried to do it again today. today was a total failure. we didn't even finish. we got halfway and we weren't doing the stuff seriously so it sucked.

sometimes exercising just sucks. plus it was really hot today and we did it at like 7 p.m. so it was warm and that didn't help.

long story short, we're going to try exercising again on saturday.

this weather is sooooo weird!!! it's summer vacation and it needs to be sunny and warm, not this gloomy dark rainy weather!!! it's making my crazy!!

yesterday i visited my grandma and grandpa it was sooo fun! we ate a lot of good food and watermelon, yay! my mom finally said that my birthday party could be at the beach, which will be really fun. i need to study for my permit test that i want to take this week. i NEED to take it this week!

today i ran with my friend and my sister at 8: 30 A.M. , i am pretty pathetic, i can't even run around the block twice! oh well, we'll get better, soo, hopefully! i have pictures from this antique faire that i went to and i will post the pictures today. i have been meaning to do that for a while now, but i kept forgetting. i will be posting more because i'm on summer break now :) this summer is kind of different from others because our "daily lives" won't be the same after this summer because my sister will be in another state for college. it's so weird to think that it will only be me and my little sister at home. freaky!- will post later, emi

why are we humans so critical?

i just realized that we say bad things about a lot of things without even noticing it. for instance, celebs that wear the same outfit, we can't but help ask who wore it better. we are always comparing someone to someone else. everyday someone says to a friend or thinks to themselves, "Why is she wearing THAT?" or we say or think something close to that, i admit i do. we criticize others and ourselves waaaay too much. i think we think too much about our appearance and we always say that looks don't matter, but for a lot of people that isn't true. just look at how many jobs are centered around looking beautiful or making someone look beautiful: models, fashion designers, make-up artists, hair stylists, ect. does anyone ever realize how much looks actually do matter to society? i don't think many of us do. i, for one, am constantly thinking about my appearance and writing this down, i feel narcissistic, i can only wonder what the world would be like if society didn't focus on looks, and more about the beauty of life itself. i hope this all made sense because i kind of rambled. i know this post was kind of random, but it sort of just popped into my head.-Emi

so i haven't posted anything on this blog since January, and it was just because i was tooo lazy! a lot has happened in the three months that i did not post anything. we had our first dance competition, it was weird, too many skimpy costumes. i got contacts, yay!! my dance performance company went to Disneyland, and it was a horrible experience!!! i got sick right after we came back and i missed a week of school!! i am now starting to feel like my old self.

my little sister is 13!! i can't believe it!! we just had her party yesterday, the cake was sooooo good! i signed up for my classes for next year, my electives are drama I and yearbook, which i am really excited about!!! and i am going to get my haircut next week on the 31st!!! i'm just going to get it thinned out and trimmed, but i have been asking my mom for a few months now to get a haircut!!

my sister and i have been running around our neighborhood, for exercise and because i want to do cross country next school year! my sister and i have also stopped being vegetarians by choice, it was mostly me because i felt as though i was a terrible vegetarian. i hated the fake meat and i felt hungry all the time. i think when i am older i will try again.

this quarter i am taking driver's ed, i signed up last quarter, but they did not let me into the class because i wasn't 15 and a 1/2, but i knew people that were younger than me that got into the class, so whatever! what pisses me off is that freshmen are in the class!!! i mean they should have to wait till their sophomore year at least, don't you think? anyway, i am back and i am bloggin'!!!!-xoxo emi

Stick to a vegetarian diet (My sister and I started being vegetarians after Christmas)
Exercise everyday
Write in a journal more frequently
Get learners permit!!
Don't get stressed out about little things
Don't procrastinate in school (I really need to break that habit!!)
Write on this blog more (I only had 60 posts this year compared to last year's 100)

Cyd Charisse

After reading Gingerbread, Shrimp, and Cupcake, by Rachel Cohn, where the character is named after Cyd Charisse, I wanted to know more about the dancer. I had known a little bit about her, but I looked her up on Youtube and saw her do ballet, it was amazing!! She was so good, in one video she and a lot of girls were and pointe shoes doing pique turns so fast when I can barely do them slowly. Also about the books: Shrimp and Cupcake, I didn't really like them, the character in the book Cyd Charisse was more annoying and things didn't go as I expected. The ending was really weird too. I wish I had only read the first book because that book was really interesting.

I got a mix cd from my friend, who lives in Illinois, we both planned to send mix cds to each other since it was an easier present, I was really curious to see what she had been listening to. I got her package yesterday, I still haven't sent mine. I'm so bad at sending presents! But I have all the stuff ready now, all I need are the stamps to put on the package. Hopefully I'll send it today!-Emi

Last week was so CRAZY!!! Finals. Lots and lots of finals!! I crammed and did okay on most of them. I did really good on my history final YAY!!!! I love history! I'm so happy I'm out of school, it's nice not having any homework.

My sister and I decided that after Christmas we're becoming vegetarians!! I'm excited for that!!

I bought people presents yesterday, i guess I qualify as a procrasti-santa!!! HA! Next year I am SO buying presents in October! I can't wait for Christmas!!!-Emi

So much has been happening. My choir concert was this week and was more enjoyable and fun than the last one. I found out that the jazz performance/dinner/fundraiser auditions are in January!!! I am so excited I have my sheet music and I am so prepared this time, unlike last year!!! The auditions for the advanced choir are also coming up so I'm going to be preparing for it in the next few weeks!!! I am also happy that it is December, I get to sing Christmas songs now!!! FINALS are next week, so I'm studying, unlike last year. I have been on pointe for a few weeks now and my feet don't hurt that bad, I think I'm actually starting to break them in!!! I have a difficulty with turns, but I'm sure I get them soon. I'm going to ballet tonight so I'm excited. I really look forward to dance now because of my pointe shoes!! Toy Story 3

I never talked about Toy Story 3 when I saw it, so since it's coming out soon on DVD, I thought I could write a little something about it!! I loved that it wasn't like most sequels or trequels (?), it had the same feel of the first two movies, they used the same voices for old characters (except slinky because Jim Varney passed away), they used Randy Newman for the music, but most of all they had a great story, that was kind of realistic. What happens to toys once, the kid goes to college?

I know a lot of people cried at the climax scene, and I have to admit I was one of them! I was trying so hard not to because I hate crying at movies while my sister has no emotion!! LOL! I loved the ending most of all, and I cried at that part too!!! I also like the new toys, like Mr.Pricklepants and Trixie, I LOVED Bonnie, she wore the cutest clothes and had the cutest personality. I wished that when I was little I had clothes like her!-emi

Between aerobics and dance I feel like I'm sore all the time! I am really loving aerobics, it's so much better than the regular freshmen P.E you're required to take freshmen year. I feel like I've never done that much in P.E before aerobics, lol probably because I haven't! Anyway, aerobics is so fun because we do all sorts of stuff, like today we used these half-ball things that help you balance, yesterday we did strength training with body bars, and the rest of the time we mostly used the steps. I feel more energetic and more muscular now lol! And there's only been 12 days of school so far, I wonder how I'll feel in a few months??!!! I'm so excited to think about that!!!-emi

Yesterday morning I watched (500) days of summer, and it was different than what I expected , but in a good way. First of all, I thought the movie would go from the beginning to the end, and it turned out they went from the end to the beginning to the middle and it just kept switching from when they met to when they were broken up. Despite that, the whole movie made sense, Tom was happy then sad then happy again. I loved how Summer's (Zooey Deschanel) signature thing was the color blue. Tom's (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) chalkboard was amazing too. Overall it was a charming little movie. -emi

So last week I went to Santa Cruz, so we could look at UCSC for my sister, and it was super fun! I would've uploaded photos earlier, but I was way too lazy!! We went to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the downtown area. I even got to go to Whole Foods for the first time!!! It was AMAZING!!! Anyway I will post the photos with captions, then I have a list for you!!!

Reasons I love Santa Cruz:

There are lots of Hybrids on the streets
Nice Downtown
Lots of Local restaurants and businesses
The beach! (and Boardwalk)
Pretty Victorian houses (they were everywhere!!!)
The people (they looked so unique/creative/artsy)
And most of all everything is walking distance ( well almost everything)

This week i had my dress rehearsal and my recitals for dance. We have 4 shows: a saturday matinee, a saturday evening, a sunday matinee, and a sunday evening. And i am in all of them. Luckily in the 1st matinee i only had to perform one of my dances and in the evening i had to perform all three and i think i did okay, a few things were too fast or not so graceful, but no one forgot any major parts. I wasn't too worried because i had sunday to get it right and my grandparents are coming today to see the evening show so i want to perform better since i am getting used to the schedule and how the recital goes. Wish me luck-emi

on tuesday, after my contemporary dance class, i was given a piece of paper. it turned out to be an invitation to be on my dance studio's performance company!!!!! i was so excited because i had seen tons of girls get papers for it and i finally got one!!!! i didn't get on the high school dance team, but this team is just as good or even better! i will get to perform at various places and competitions!!!! YAY!!! this made me really think that things happen for a reason!!!-emi

I've miss you !!!! sorry i haven't posted anything in a long time! I have been kind of busy and lazy. i had my last choir concert of this school year a few weeks ago, i went to a performing arts dance, i went to Great America for a choir competition and this week i had finals. also my choir teacher is leaving, but i just found out who the new choir teacher will be, so i'm not as freaked out as i was the day after he told us because i know we have someone. Today was the last day of school yay!!!! But it was a downer week because it was rainy and cloudy, it even hailed a little yesterday. okay, so i haven't been posting recently and i miss my blog!!!! i'm sooooooo tired!!!! i found out for my english presentation i'm going to have to present an oral on the Odyssey!!!! ahhhhh!!!! there's only 15 days of school left and i have all these things coming up!!! tomorrow i'm going to Great America for a choir competition like i did last year, except i'm in high school!!!! which i am super excited about!!! i have a dance for the performing arts coming up and i still don't have a dress!!!! ahhhh!!!! and my choir's spring concert is coming up!!!! i also have to swin in p.e. again!!! why????? because i went to a different shcool for 1st quarter and swam there for p.e. and now for the last 3 quarters i've been at another school, and the time has come to swim!!!! i'm tired, i have chlorine in my hair, and i need to go to bed early tonight! why????? besides the fact that im super tired, i have to go to my school at 7 a.m something because we're leaving @ 8 a.m. it'll be like i'm going to school still, well i am in a way. i have to get up even earlier because i have to straighten my hair (i'm so lazy i haven't straightened my hair in weeks), but i also wanted to wear my hair naturally so i wouldn't damage my hair anymore, my mane has to be tamed!!! lol sorry i'm venting and sound so negative, i just had to do that!! :)-emi

my dance team try-outs are officially over. yay!!! i think overall i did pretty good. before we did the actual try-outs we had two days where we did across the floor stuff and learned a short routine, which we would perform for the actual try-out. the coach asked us to do kicks, leaps, and toe touches, which was easy. then we performed the routine and it was like a blur i didn't count, or blink, i just danced, as lady gaga said, and i was okay. lol (lady gaga moment)-emi

Today at dance my dance teacher asked me if I wanted to go on pointe!!!!! OH MY GOD! It was like something out of a dream!! she said my arches were strong enough and that I had enough technique to have pointe shoes!!!!! That's all I've ever wanted!!! OH MY GOD I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I have this book from when I was in kindergarden and there was a page that said: What do you want to be when you grow up? and I wrote down that I wanted to be a ballerina. I never thought that would happen since this is only my second year of ballet, but I've taken dance since I was 3 or 4 (combo class, jazz, and modern)!!! sweet dreams-Emi
